Taiwan’s Tatung to target electric bus market

Tatung is planning to enter the EV market and offer powertrain solutions, especially for buses.

Tatung president Chaney Ho says “Tatung has been a partner for EV motors since 2006, but we lacked a complete powertrain solution.

“Our collaboration with the Industrial Technology Research Institute to develop a powertrain is bearing fruit, and we already have orders for our 250kW powertrain.”

The company says it is also developing a 330kW powertrain and is planning to target the EV bus sector, initially in Taiwan and then globally.

“Next year we hope to mass-produce our 330kW powertrain and design it into commercial logistics vehicles,” adds Ho.
