Milton Keynes wins funding for 60-electric bus plan
Milton Keynes council has been successful in its bid for funding for a new fleet of 60 electric buses and an upgraded overnight charging depot facility.
The bid was in response to the Department for Transport’s Zero Emission Bus Regional Access (ZEBRA) scheme which invited local authorities to submit proposals for a share of £120million grant funding.
Pete Marland, Leader of Milton Keynes council, says: “We’re happy with this announcement which is a very important step in achieving our climate targets. We’ve shown that MK is fully invested in becoming even cleaner and greener, and that we have the partnerships in place to move quickly to a zero-carbon future with electric buses.”
